Basic Arabic Bridging Programme 

 

This bridging programme is designed to help students to meet the Arabic language requirements for the Certificate in Arabic or Islamic Studies programme. It is an extensive preparatory course that is tailored specifically for those who have little to no knowledge in recognizing or reading Arabic alphabets. It focuses on the fundamental of the Arabic script, i.e. reading and pronunciation principles, ensuring correct articulation so as to build a strong foundation in Arabic literacy.

50 % Attendance require to be considered completing the course. Worksheets and class works will be given to assess the students understanding.

MODULES

Intro to Arabic Language

This module introduces learners to the 28 letters in the Arabic alphabet, Al-abjadiyah both in oral and written form. It teaches learners each letter’s name and basic sound.

Intro to Arabic Basic Pronunciation

A detailed study into the short and long vowels and their corresponding sounds. Learners will be introduced to the pronunciation of letters with absent vowel, the nuun and lam sound. This module also touches on the concept of shaddah, one of diacritical marks that is used with the Arabic alphabet. Lastly, learners will be taught full sentence reading in the Arabic language.

Intro to Arabic Script

This module focuses on the form of the Arabic letters; the initial, middle, end and isolated. Learners will also learn basic Arabic writing to augment the remembrance and recognition of all the Arabic Al-Abjadiyah.
