The Degree in Syariah (Comparative Mazahib) is a comprehensive program designed for students who wish to explore the diverse schools of Islamic jurisprudence (Mazahib). This program provides a thorough understanding of the major Islamic legal traditions, including the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali schools, as well as other contemporary legal thought.

Students will study the core principles, rulings, and methodologies of each Mazhab, comparing and contrasting their interpretations of Islamic law.

By completing this degree, students will gain a solid foundation in Islamic law, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to legal research, teaching, and the application of Shariah in a diverse, globalized world.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • 18 Years of age and above

  • Graduated formal Islamic Studies from any one of the following:

    a.      Full-time or Part-time Advanced Diploma course in MIC

    b.      Diploma from an institution recognized by MIC

    c.       Pre-University level from any Full-Time Madrasah

  • Applicants may be required to satisfy additional requirements such as an entrance test and interview.

TRANSFER CREDIT

  • Transfer Credit can be granted based on prior undertaking of Islamic studies/modules.
  • Approval is based on a complete submission of proof of prior studies and transfer credit form.
