DR. USTAZ SAIFUDDIN AMIN

Ustaz Saifuddin Amin is no stranger to the College and to education. Before joining MIC in 2007, Ustaz Saifuddin taught at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Gontor.
Ustaz Saifuddin was a key figure in developing the Arabic Language curriculum in MIC’s early years. He was also instrumental in building the capacity of the Arabic Language department. Over the years, Ustaz Saifuddin expanded his scope into Islamic Studies and now serves as the Dean of the College.
Ustaz Saifuddin believes that education is more than transferring of knowledge and an educator’s influence reaches beyond the classroom. Ustaz views an educator as someone who has great impact on the development of a student’s character as Ilm is about transferring of Adab and Akhlaq.
Besides teaching, Ustaz Saifuddin loves to read and write and has written six books on education. Ustaz is an active advocator who had been invited to speak at various international seminars on Islam and Islamic education.
On the community front, Ustaz Saifuddin is the founder of Pesantren Al Amin for boys and Pesantren Aisyah Abu Bakar for girls in Batam. Today, Ustaz still manages the two schools during his spare time.
USTAZ SHAIK HUZAIFAH SHAIK HUSSAIN

Ustaz Shaik Huzaifah is a senior lecturer with the college, specialising in Shariah related subjects. An educator at heart, he is passionate about teaching and imparting knowledge. As such, he is well known for his zealous approach and unconventional ways in delivering knowledge. This is clearly demonstrated in his class, where lessons are conducted in an engaging and lively manner. He also has a profound ability to explain complex topics with such simplicity, creating depth and clarity in his delivery.
Ustaz Shaik Huzaifah believes that learning takes place both in and out of the classroom. He is always seeking opportunity to create a platform and build safe spaces for meaningful interactions. He takes the initiative to reach out to his students and engage them in deep conversations and thought-provoking discussion. Due to his warm personality and approachable nature, students enjoy their interactions and are motivated to learn more.
Relevance is also another philosophy that Ustaz Shaik Huzaifah holds on to. He strives to bridge the gap between theory and practice, illustrating how Islamic principles apply to contemporary issues in society, family life, ethics and personal development. This encourages students to reflect on and subsequently incorporate Islamic values into their own lives.
Besides teaching, Ustaz Huzaifah is active on the dakwah front. His approach to dakwah is holistic, centering on spiritual developments and implications within the society. Through talks and lectures, Ustaz Huzaifah aspires to inspire a community that embodies the Islamic values of compassion and Taqwa. His deep commitment to dakwah efforts propels him to raise awareness, address issues and champion causes and ideas that can create positive change to the Ummah as a whole.


USTAZ ZAINAL ABIDIN ABDUL AZIZ

Ustaz Zainal Abidin is an Arabic language specialist who teaches and advocates for the learning of Arabic language. Ustaz Zainal firmly believes that the learning of the Arabic language is essential to every Muslim as it is the key to open the doorway of understanding of the noble Quran. He is also convinced that it is through this understanding that one is able to fully embody the messages of the Holy Book into their daily lives and practices.
As such, Ustaz Zainal is committed to not just teaching of Arabic, but also in fostering a deeper appreciation of the language. In doing so, he goes beyond traditional instruction and advocates for a holistic approach in language learning that involves curating, sharing and developing methods and curricula. Ustaz Zainal’s ultimate objective is to help students not only grasp the mechanics of Arabic but to connect it on a personal level.
As an educator, Ustaz Zainal places strong emphasis on discipline and structure as foundational pillars for effective learning. The Arabic language is rich and complex and thus requires a systematic and organized approach to ensure success and application. Bearing this in mind, Ustaz Zainal views each lesson as a piece that fits together to create a comprehensive and coherent whole.
Ustaz Zainal’s work spans across a wide range of educational settings, from institutions to mosques. Ustaz is adept at working with a broad spectrum of age groups and from all backgrounds. In his free time, Ustaz enjoy sporting activities and photography.
USTAZ MOHD TAUFIK MOHD RAMLAN

Ustaz Taufik began his teaching career as a relief teacher at Madrasah Aljunied when he just graduated from Al Azhar University. He joined MIC in 2011 and has been at the forefront of championing Islamic Studies in the College since.
Ustaz Taufik’s teaching philosophy is based on student-centred approach. He believes that students should not be passive receivers of knowledge but an active participants. Ustaz Taufik envisions his role as an educator to be more than just the deliverer of knowledge but rather to be the facilitator of each’s students’ learning journey. Like a gardener, he aims to sow the seed of curiosity while empowering his students to be the architect of their own learning process. Thus, he strives to create an interactive learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore concepts on their own and work collaboratively with their peers.
Baseline assessment is an integral component in Ustaz Taufik’s teaching philosophy as well. This baseline assessment not only allows him to gauge a student’s prior and existing knowledge but also help him to establish a clear benchmark of progress for his students.
Other than teaching, Ustaz Taufik is passionate about reading and writing. He aspires to write his own book on his area of expertise one day. He also conducts home-based Islamic Studies for family and friends. Occasionally, Ustaz Taufik gives talk and lectures at mosques and other Muslim organizations. In his spare time, he is an avid cyclist and blogger.


USTAZ MOHAMED ASLAM AKBAR ALI

Ustaz Mohamed Aslam is a lecturer with Muhammadiyah Islamic College in Islamic Studies and Arabic Language, specializing in Islamic Theology. Ustaz Aslam believes that all knowledge are intricately linked. With that in mind, he develops a deep interest and engagement in multidisciplinary fields.
Besides teaching, Ustaz Aslam is active in conducting workshops and seminars. He hopes such programs can help to foster understanding and invoke a sense of curiosity among his students and participants.
Ustaz Aslam’s passion in Quranic Science is the core of his teaching approach. He firmly believes that the path to personal growth, uprightness, and true success lies in the light of the Quran. He is convinced that only by deeply understanding and internalizing the teachings of the Quran, individuals can find clarity in their purpose and navigate life’s challenges with patience, Taqwa and resilience.
Committed to Dawah efforts, Ustaz Aslam hopes to guide youths to the right direction. With the same teaching philosophy, Ustaz Aslam continues to emphasize the transformative power of the Quran, urging and encouraging youths to discover the relevance and beauty of Islamic teachings in today’s world. Engaged in continuous research and learning, Ustaz Aslam strives to provide a holistic perspective to the subjects he teaches so as to provide depth, clarity and most importantly relevance.
USTAZAH KHAIRU BARIEYAH ANSHAR

Ustazah Khairu Barieyah is a lecturer with MIC, specializing in the teaching of Arabic language. She has more than 10 years of teaching experience and has developed curriculum for learning Arabic specifically for young children.
Ustazah Khairu Barieyah’s approach to education is deeply rooted in the belief that learning should be enjoyable and interactive. As an educator, she tailors her lessons to cater to individual needs as she knows everyone learns differently, has their own pace and learning styles . Like herself, she hopes her students enjoy and embrace the process of learning and view it as a journey to self discovery. With this in mind, Ustazah Khairu Barieyah celebrates every small wins as it is a victory in its own right. In doing so, she aims to reinforce the idea that success is not about achieving perfection but the continuous improvement and self growth. And thus, every small step forward is a positive direction towards progress.
As a life-long learner, Ustazah Khairu Barieyah loves reading, discovering new ideas and innovating her own teaching methodologies. She aspires to create a curriculum and programme to teach Arabic language to special needs children in the near future.
Besides teaching in MIC, Ustazah Khairu Barieyah also tutors and curates educational worksheets in Arabic language lessons for full-time and part-time Madrasah students.
